I own a 93 XLT and im having some trouble with the push button lights and the in dash indactors. My 4 wheel drive works and everything but when I engage it by pushing the button the light on the push button and dash wont light up. I tried to check the fuses but my repair mannual doesnt really explain which ones are for the 4 wheel drive. Does any one know what could be causing this?

Is transfer case actually engaging in 4 wheel drive? The electric motor that shifts the transfer is known for problems (see this site for help on the motor: www.glue.umd.edu/~singletn/web/pages/tcase.html). As I understand it if the transfer case isn't actually shifting into 4 wheel drive, the lights won't come on.

That is what i dont understand...my transfer case is engaging into 4 wheel drive. But my indactor lights dont come on? Could it be a fuse?

Do the lights ever come on, did they ever, like when you start up? If not, the bulb might just be shot.

No, they had never came on. The guy who owned it before never used it. How do you replace the ones that are near the stearing column.
