4x4 lights are flashing

I have a 2002 explorer 4x4 and the 4x4 lights flash 3 times every 2 minutes. Any ideas?

probrally some wires have come loose or frayed on the transfer case if they all check out okay try cleaning your shift motor

2 Door or 4 Door?

Check the connection on the transfer case and disconnect the battery for about an hour. Then reconnect the battery, let it idle for about 5 minutes with NO A/C, no radio, just let it idle and it will reprogram the PCM. Most of the time that will fix it and save you some $$$.

you do not have to reset the computer every time you turn the key off the gem resets the t case is connected to the gem not the pcm

I disagree with you the only way you will clear the fault code is by disconnecting the battery.

not true whenever i unplug my tranfsfer case to do burnouts the 4x4 lights flash i just shut the car off and plug it back in and the lights are gone

you dont have to i just did it to put it in 2wd you probrally have som frayed wires right when you start the car up are you able to put it in 4wd

No I cannot put the car into 4 wheel drive High or Low. It is a 4 - door

Do you have your foot on the brake and the transmission in Neutral when you try to switch to 4LOW? Probably a problem with the shift motor if you do and it's not switching. You can try cleaning the shift motor yourself. Search the 4x4 doesn't work threads and you'll find a link to the Singleton maintenance site. Instructions on troubleshooting/cleaning/fixing are there.
