4x4 to 2wd Mod questions

I have had my explorer for almost a year and never heard of this BROWN WIRE MOD. I have questions about this. WHAT exactly does it do. And I want to do this I am not an electricain by any means. All posts talk about a switch to put (in-line) I don't understand the type of switch required. Can someone help me out, I am not good with wiring or abbreviations on switches.

So this doesn't damage anything at all??? I wonder about any long term problems... I wanna know if you can basically drive all the time with it in 2wd and flip the switch when you need 4 auto..... Does anyone out there have this done and been using it for a long time????

In a word, yes. LOTS of people have used it. It works fine as long as it's wired properly. Read the thread posted above, or the original (27 pages of) brown wire mod thread for more info.

Search and ye shall find your answers. It wouldn't be a sticky if it wasn't a useful thread.
