4X4 Working, but Indicator Light Not

Got a weird problem that I can't figure out, even through searches. This started yesterday and I spent last night and today trying to figure it out. I'm stuck.

My 4 High and 4 Low work fine, mechanically. When I switch into 4 High, it goes into 4 High and pulls right up the hill I use for the monthly 4 wheel drive checkup (2wd can't cut it). The light never comes on, though. Being an LED, this has me stumped. 4 Low engages fine and the light comes on.

Any thoughts?

Are the 4X4 indicators LED? Never had mine out. 4X4 High has it's own input front the 4X4 module, a gray wire in the #6 position of the "281B" connector. I would suspect a bad connection there. LED's do go out though. Does it light on start-up self-test?

The 4x4 indicators are bulbs. I just swapped my speedometer, and the 4x4 light was out on the new one.

I assumed they were LED. Hopefully it's just a blown bulb, LED or not. I just wouldn't expect a LED in that function to blow, especially given how often it is used. If it's a bulb, that makes more sense. It doesn't light up on start up which now makes me think it's the bulb. If either of you are correct, this shouldn't be too difficult.

Well, wouldn't you know when I set aside a few minutes this evening to diagnose the problem (not necessarily fix), it works. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it unless anyone thinks this is something I should get to the bottom of as soon as possible.

They are regular halogen bulbs, not leds.

Well, they're working halogen bulbs. Hopefully they continue to.
