I have a 1999 Explorer XLT and on Monday when we got a storm I had to move my explorer and it clicked into 4wd low automatically. Now I cannot get it out of 4wd! Any suggestions? I have tried turning the button 4wd high to see if it will switch over but it wont. the button is just on auto. Can someone please let me know if they have any ideas.

Thank you!

Sorry I posted this somewheres else also because I couldnt find the correct place to post it....

If you're sure that its in 4lo, then go out to the truck and place the switch back to the 4lo position. Start the truck, and with your foot on the brake shift from P into N. Then try switching it back into auto 4x4. If that doesn't work then you could just manually shift it by removing the t-case shift motor and placing it back into auto...

...not sure how it shifted into 4lo on its own though...

An uncommanded shift would throw a trouble code, and a failure to shift back would as well.

As already mentioned, you must be STOPPED, in NEUTRAL (Or the CLUTCH must be depressed on a manual trans), with your foot on the BRAKES. Then flip the switch. Start there and let us know what you find.

I tried this but it didnt work......I am starting to have issues with the car so I am thinking I may need a new one soon...
