Hey guys,
Is there a throttle body and throttle body spacer for the 5.0L that fits on the Explorer?
Mine gets a tiny bit stuck sometimes and makes the truck shift a little funny so I'm wanting to replace It with a new one and just wanted to check with all of you to see what's out there.

Thanks in advance for y'all's help.

Have you thought about cleaning your throttle body? I would do that ($10-15) before buying a new one ($200+) and I would buy a junkyard one ($50) before I bought a new one.

As far as throttle body spacers, the jury is out on that one. I think the tube between the throttle body and the intake is too "bumpy" to maintain the swirl effect that the spacers are supposed to give you.

Good Luck,

Thanks for the info and yeah Brother I've cleaned it about 4 times and eventually it does it again so that's why I was going to replace it.

OP mine stuck too. Raise your idle screw a turn or two, reset the computer and I bet it will never stick again. I had the same problem on my 99 and my 96 5.0's. I have a feeling over time those idle screws back out and cause the plate to stick.

Thank you so much Rollover. I'll check that out tomorrow and see if it helps.

No problem.

I put one on my 5.0 as well. Kind of a PITA but from what I've heard a nice bump in performance for the money.

Here is a post when I had installed mine: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3349735&postcount=690

:)

Great info Homie!!! Thanks for the heads-up.
It does look like a Bit€h to put in but if it helps it's worth it.....Right? :D

If your throttle body keeps needing cleaning I don't see how a new one ora different type will help.

Your problem is oil getting into the throttle body from the PCV.

You should consider some sort of oil catch setup in the PCV.

The idle stop screw rollover mentioned is actually a throttle plate stop, it's there for just this reason, so the throttle plate doesn't close too much and get stuck.
