I ended up putting in a fresh built transmission and the torque converter ended up not being set right and now the front pump went out and lost all pressure. Is it possible to just change the front pump and get lucky that it did not damage anything else?? I know enough to get me in trouble obviously... Hoping to get lucky, lmk your thoughts.

Generally hydraulic pumps use the fluids they are pumping to lubricate themselves. I would venture that at least the pump is toast depending on how long it was run. It's also likely the rest of the transmission sustained some damage.

You can change the pump but make sure you check the hub on the torque converter for damage also. More than likely will need a new pump to case gasket. Good luck.

Been there done that, with a TH400, actually I installed the pump small gear backwards and the transmission lasted about one mile, LOL (at least I can laugh at it, was long time ago), basically, if any metal shavings where taken up by the fluid, the entire trans. will need to be disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled, that does not take that long, it tool me about an two hours to disassemble and reassemble (TH400) and I am not FAST at all, I take my time. A modern trans. will take longer. DOnt forget to flush out the cooler lines, and torque converter.
