Then there is something wrong with your truck, to put it simply; a high-flow intake isn't going to take your mileage to 7.
Did you knock anything loose when installing the intake? Perhaps put a hole in a fuel line (don't see how that's possible, but...), or anything of that nature?
Put the stocker back in and try it out. Like Adam said, maybe something got loose and by going back to stock, that'll tell you that it's not the intake.
Did you reset the computer after you installed the intake? Done any other performance mods? What gears do you have to turn those 32" tires? And...Have you just been on the gas way too much cause you like to hear the new intake sound?
I'm thinking it's a mix of all the above: fun with new power, a struggling computer, and 32" tires. Unless you fubared something during the install or have a coincidental performance problem.
Even stomping on the gas all day wouldn't get it down to 7 mpg. There is something really wrong. Even with my new 33's, I still got 15.3 mpg on a 300 mile drive on Sunday. That included many hills and lots of throttle.
I'm running a supercharger, upgraded fuel system, and a surgically implanted 50 lb weight in my right foot and only dip to 7 mpg when I go to the track.
Something's wrong here. With 33's and close to 600 pounds of armor and accessories added, I still get around 15 MPG.
You need to take it in for a tune-up or something.
Something is defnitely wrong with your setup. I would really check to see if something came loose. I was down to about 12 with 31's and stock gears (very heavy foot). That was until I put the intake on and now I get about 15.
Same gas mileage when I had stock tires. Just put the 32's on a few days ago so rule that out. I had the battery disconnected for an hour to reset the computer so rule that out as well. F.Y.I..... I had this same problem a few years ago, autoshop changed the Fuel Pressure Regulator and that seemed to fix it. Maybe it coincidentaly fouled again? I dont know, I think i'll clean the MAF for ***** and giggles who knows maybe the gods will smile upon me, the sun shines on a dogs ass every now and then =)
