I'm putting a new aftermarket head unit in my 92 and have a couple questions before I get started. I have the wiring harness all set up.

- It's the base stereo system, do I need to install any type of mounting plate or will the new aftermarket size stereo fit in the slot and the trim of the dash covering make a completed finish? I know some car makers like GM or Dodge, you need a mounting plate cause the factory stereo space is bigger then the after market ones.

- Any other issues to worry about when doing the install? It's winter up here and don't want to spend too much time out there doing this so any things to watch for before hand would be great!

Thanks.

when i installed mine, i had to add a "cage" into it, previous owner had messed everything up, mmine now slids in and clips in, you need a flat head to remove it, but it was a sony.

call crutchfield if you have any questions, they're normally pretty good about answering any questions, that who i call when i have any kind of question.

1-888-955-6000 is the number, they also have a live chat on their website as well.

a 92' install is simple because is there isn't any additional wires like power door locks and such that run through the headunit like the 2nd/3rd gens...there is kits you can buy for like $15 to make your install look clean...but u can get away with just mounting the metal sleeve and locking the radio in that way but wont look to sharp :p:

yeah, most head units come wiht a bracket that go on either side, and a trim piece that locks onto that.
