my title pretty much sums it up but my 92 ranger custom has an electrical short. What happens is that if the fuse that powers my 4x4 dash buttons, my tack, my alt gauge, and who knows what else is inserted into its spot in my interior fuse box, my starter starts to spin... So long story short I've removed the electric motor on my t-case and now turn the shaft with a pair of pliers when I'm in the bush, which is a lot. Prettty annoying. So I was wondering just how easy it would be to pull my transfer case off and replace it with a manual shift one from an older model ranger? would it bolt right up to my existing tranny? would there be pre-existing holes forr the shifter? and would there be room for both my shift sticks? In short, would this work??? Any and all advice would be very apprciated!!!!!:rangerred:

I just did this on my 93. I was doing the reach under and shift for years, then i found a 93 x at the junkyard with a manual 1354 case. I pulled the case, the shift linkage, the floor plates, and the double shifter boot. Everything was transferable to my truck with no modifications.
If you use a 1350 case from an older Ranger, you'll need to adapt your front driveshaft, but everything else should be good.

Years?! Wow, that must be same kind of truck! That's good news though! Would I be able to put the same manual t-case that you used into my 92 do you think?? I actually just swapped a 6-inch Skyjacker suspension lift from a 93 parts truck I had into my 92, so I dunno, maybe that means they're pretty similar underneath?:rangerred:

actually i realized that if they make a 93 with a manual t-case, there's probably one for a 92.... thanks for your help!:rangerred:

1990-97 Rangers, '91-94 Explorer, '90 BroncoIIs use the 13-54 thats a direct swap into your truck. Now the fun part is finding one at a decent price.
