Greetings,
I found and read the article contributed by Mr. Hayes re: coolant loss, and I observed coolant leaking from the top, rear of the thermostat housing, next to the head, I think. Whatever the t-stat housing is attached to. Is this the same problem with a cracked intake manifold gasket? Or, could it be something else??
Thanks in advance for your input!

Greetings,
Whatever the t-stat housing is attached to. :

the tstat housing is attatched to the lower intake, and odds are it's your lower intake manifold gasket, thats what happened with mine. any questions just ask.

P.S. go to autozone and rent a coolant pressure tester to find the leak make sure the radiatior is full.

Thanks CL

I was afraid of that----I suppose that's a pretty major job replacing that gasket, huh? :(

Check that the clamp that holds the hose on there is tight 1st before tearing a whole top of your engine apart. It could just be a trickle from that hose being a tiny bit loose. :)

It could also be the thermostat gasket is cracked and leaking. :)

Well, unfortuneately, I have already identified the source of the leak, and it is between the t-stat housing and the manifold---it is a fairly strong spurt right there at that 90 degree seam on top of the t-stat housing. Pretty easy to see. Is there a gasket between the t-stat housing and the intake manifold?

it could also be the thermostat housing itself is slightly cracked. :)

O.K. I'll just have to get in there and start ripping stuff out----thanks for the help!
