Update! Finally Got EGR Valve out and pulled codes from most recent trip 1k + miles.
Hello again and thanks for your feedback and help!
Worked on the EX on this rainy day, luckily I was able to use the garage. I'm trying to get the truck ready to tow my boat back to Atlanta from PA. I had some tranny issues on the way up and have since installed a 2nd (High Performance) tranny cooler after the stock one and radiator pass through. Driving over the Appalachians in VA will be the ultimate test. Please pray for me.
Work done today on my EX:
Reinstalled the wire harness to my bad brake sensor after removing it and cleaning a lot of grime off it.
Got the EGR Valve
off after much effort, some Liquid Wrench, Freeze Off and finally a bottle of Air duster turned upside down to freeze the bolt on the Lower Manifold tube, I was able to finally get the rusted nut off!
After that, the EGR install was fairly easy.
Reset TPS .96 Volts DC from the previously obtained .97 Volts DC
Next I pulled the codes stored in PCM:
Here they are:
513 (O) Replace processor (PCM) (internal failure)
117 (O,M) ECT sensor is/was low or grounded - ECT (NEW ONE!)
What is the ECT sensor?
172 (R,M) Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right or Rear HO2S - Fuel control
176 (M) Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean Left or Front HO2S - Fuel control
542 (O,M) Fuel pump open, bad ground or always on - - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits
Next I reset the computer and pulled codes again.
513 (O) Replace processor (PCM) (internal failure)
Then went for a 10 min. drive towing my 3450 lb Boat plus trailer up and down some serious hills to test the brake sensor I had cleaned and give the PCM an opportunity to relearn the driving characteristics while towing and still got the 513 code.
Do I need a new PCM?
I will re post my stats when I arrive in ATL. I got about 10 MPG (While towing) on the way up I hope to do better going down south.
This should be a good test for the new EGR Valve and added tranny cooler. I hope it all works out.
Wish me luck!
