hi everyone
i am new on this site but i think its awesome ,here goes my story truck all packed up going on a camping trip with my little guy( excited as can be) drive for about 150kms on the freeway my truck all of a sudden looses power press on the gas no rpms just a bog down managed to pull over shut her down figured it was the right thing to do.waited 5 mins and she started right up i had go again not as smooth as before but we were going only for about 5 kms though she did it again press the gas nothing but sputter no rpms my son in the back a little worried at his time managed to comfort him as best as i could since i was pretty worried too found a green and ross the diagnostic cost me a 120 dollars and the estimate came in over 1000.00 they told me that the fuel pump was gone(no 1000.00 in my pocket i said no thanks) having faith in my ford we carried on stop and go for another several hundred kms to camp.stayed for a week and came back the same way stop and go truck runs not too bad till she warms up then trouble starts.took it to a do it yourself shop yesterday. who owns it is a certified mechanic told him i was changing the fuel pump he asked why and told him my LOOOONG story (please bear with me ) he told me that its not fuel pump problem ,tested the fuel pressure held @30 psi he said it was a good pump he said try the coil pack so i put in a new one,cleaned the MAF sensor,put in new air filter,took it for a spin my truck had sooo much power that it was scary. gremlins gone bye bye took it for a 2hour drive in the city and the freeway just lovin it driving for about 120kms on the freeway i turned around and headed back on the on ramp i felt a slight hesitation rpms climbed to 2000 speed at 100kms engine light came on gremlins back not as bad as before ,engine surges , no rpms past 2000, kick her down from 2000 rpm and she boogs down. check engine light on, i don't really have another 120.00 bucks to do another diagnostic ,i am looking forward hearing from you thanks zoltan.
