Well, I got under the girls vehicle in bright daylight a week after cleaning everything and its not the modulator. Fresh tranny fluid at the bell housing. She wants to get rid of it in the spring. Looks like a lot of wprk to drop the tranny and probably find worn bushings in adddition to seals. Any comments? George

throw some stop leak stuff in it and sell it before it can leak out

There are several potential fluid "leaks" that might show up there. One is a torque converter leak. Another is a pump seal leak. Both of these require removal of the tranny to fix. (call these (A)).

You could also have (B) an overheating situation and the vent tube can deposit fluid in that general area with wind added at speed.

Best way to find out if it is A or B is to clean the area fully and then let the Explorer sit at idle and see where the fluid reappears.
