ok, first im new here and believe in searching first b4 posting. if there is an answer to this and i missed it i appologize now. my issue is last week wednesday 6-9-10 on the way too work i noticed that while driving (motor running just fine) it seemed to have lost fuel for a split sec or bogged out... i can press the gas pedal while its running and neither the rpms nor the motor increase then they do.. also while ideling ive noticed that it will putter every now and then and some black smoke will come from tail pipe.. (carbon) it has a new fuel pump, sparks plugs all bout 6 months old. now the motor never actually dies. its like it looses connection from accelorator cable to motor. some days it wont act up and other days it does. i believe it could b a sensor but which one. i hate having someone else do work to my cars. has anyone ever had this problem? please help me out. also this truck has to pull another car 1200 miles to texas in august . thank u all for ur help in advance

I would probably start by checking the vacuum line to the FPR for gas (gas in vacuum line=bad FPR). I might put a fuel pressure gauge on it and check fuel pressure, but, as it seems intermittent, you'd need to rig it up so you could be watching the fuel pressure when it acted up. I would probably pull codes, just to see if there's anything in the computer to point to a fault.
