Howdy!

I've been grinning and bearing it, but I now have a week off work to take a look at my problem... Basically, it seems like the AC/heating system in my truck is stuck on the vent immediately in front of the windshield, and won't switch over to the fans on the floor/dashboard when I flip the switch on the control panel.

Could there be some kind of blockage of airflow, or is the problem likely the mechanism that redirects airflow itself? Or am I just wildly spectulating and don't know what I'm really talking about?

What should I look at and how might I go about fixing the problem?

Thanks for any help you can give!

The mechanism that controls airflow is a cable operated by the upper slide control, and ending a control flap in the guts of the heater. I suppose the first thing I would do is to take off the dashboard bezel, and check out the back of the backside of the air control panel... see if the slide is moving the cable, or if it is broken there. I think there are already threads on this, do some searching.

Also you can drop down the glove box and look in there and see if the lever is moving when you move the leaver that controls the settings for dash defrost floor ect. what you will see is were the two cables are held in place by some clips and also were they end at the door flap hook up and the flap that lets in the hot air or shuts it off. There on top of the whole air box but you can get to them threw the glove box.
