'94 Help, how can you tell if your torque converter is taking a dump?

change the fluid and filter, since time is short find a trans shop that has a BG backflush machine. Its kinda pricey but worth it. Have them do a full backflush AFTER you drop the pan and change the filter = cheaper.

burnt fluid = slippage possibly, slippage usually = heat.
Maybe you were just stoned? hahahaha
15 min transmission flush for fluid cost and under 6$
Found a video on flushing transmission fluid.(tried it and it worked perfect!) Takes about 15 min.
Takes 2/3 people
need 1 bucket ( used 5gal bucket i am a painter, but you can get one at lowes for about 2.50$)
18" of line hose(longer may work just didnt know how much tranny fluid would be in a 5' piece hose
, so had a 3RD person, maybe just wiegh the hose down where you can watch it, as you add the fluid and you wouldn't need the third person) . I think a 5/16 vacuum line from autozone 2$ (not positive, of size just check the metal cooling line at the bottom of the radiator)
find the exact amount of transmission fluid of your transmission (owners manual)
Transmission funnel 2$
flat head screw driver(or; i think, was a 8mm socket for clamp)

Supposedly this is how ford Manufacturing does it not sure if it works on anything but a ford.

under/near bottom of radiator there are two metal transmission lines. Attached to the metal lines are black rubber lines.(put together with a clamp) Take both off . Have second person start the engine (and shut off quickly,) just want to note the line that trans fluid comes out. Reconnect the other line. Attach your piece of hose to the line the fluid comes out, put end in bucket. ( i think mine was 9 quarts or 8 and a partial (don't remember was a few months ago) you would rather put too little than too much. Now have one person set up the funnel and have them ready to pour the tranny fluid (i had the exact amount in containers sitting close you want a constant flow in) have your hose in the ,bucket person 2 starts the engine the old tranny fluid flows in the bucket, person 3 pours the tranny fluid in the funnel continue until you see bright red fresh now clean trannny fluid(if you had exact, amount person 3 should have put in all fluid).have person two shut off engine. Take off hose piece reconnect to line. start engine (check for leaks on both lines at radiator) check fluid and top off if needed. (not saying that this is the best method, or to replace a full fluid and filter change) I just feel that its pretty hard for anything to get in the tranny to mess up filter, if there is something in it (something is broke). Maybe just a good in between filter/change flush. Hope this helps. Gotten a lot of info from these forums.
