'91 sport 94 navajo 03xls
hey guys, i've got a 94 navajo with 140k on it. was running good until the other day when i replaced the fan clutch. while i had it apart i also took the radiator out and flushed it, put new antifreeze, put it all together and it wouldn't start. seems i couldn't hear the fuel pump priming. i switched the relays around putting the new ones i have replaced on the ac and one other onto the eec and fuel pump, still can't hear anything so i replaced the fuel pump. still no prime, won't start. also i have no cel. canaa't check codes, so i jumped the inertia switch still nothing. i checked the red/black wire going into the inertia switch and there doesn't seem to be any juice there. checked the red wire going to the eec and found juice there. just checked them with a light. help!!!!!! i'm not too good with electricity. is there anything i could have messed up by taking the radiator off? took the eec out as i read a couple of posts saying that inside some of them have burned capacitators? or whatever is in there. took mine apart and it looks like brand new inside. my previous 91 sport went 250k w/ no such problems except for the bear it hit at 65mph causing me to retire it. any help is appreciated, thanks, jerry

Are you sure the battery isn't dead or too low to start the engine, perhaps from having the hood/interior light on during the fan clutch replacement, or perhaps it just konked out? I had a DieHard Gold go completely dead on me after I changed the water pump. Though it was 7 years old, it was rather surprising for it to just go like that. You might want to test it with a voltmeter or charger, or just try a different battery if you have one around.

If that's not it, I know you swapped the relays already, but so far, whenever the engine won't start/fuel pump won't prime (and it's not a dead battery), replacing the relay works for me. You also might check the wiring, from the relay/fuse box under the hood, to the harness at the pump, perhaps theres a short somewhere.

fixed

well it turns out one of the wires from the ground cable came loose from the aftermarket battery clamp it has on it. put it back and i now have cel, pump works perfect and it drives great again. figured i'd post the results in case anyone else had a similar problem. well i got a new fuel pump out of it. thanks for your input anime4x4, jerry
