Well I made it to Nashville from SW Missouri last night. Got here at about 3am
Once I got into nash my passenger front tire made awful sounds, well several searches and some simple logic tell me the bearings have gone out.
I have the Mile Marker Manual hubs and have no idea what tools I need to get to the bearings and a time frame. I am at my uncles and we could do it if we knew the tools needed but being the 4th lots of places are closed.
ANYONE HELP? I have to drive back soon and am very worried.
Thanks,
Stranded in Nashville (Blake D)

youll need the manual hub socket (4 prong for explorers/bronco II/rangers) a torque wrench, something to press the piston into the caliper, a set of needlenose pliers (to remove the snapring on the spindle) a lug wrench/breaker bar and a bunch of grease..also, you will need (or should at least consider) new grease seals...

You'll need these tools...

Pliers and small hammer to get the caliper slide pins out
Caliper slide rail grease (not the same as the bearing grease)
Brake cleaner
Lug wrench
Torque Wrench
manual hub socket (looks like a 2" socket with four prongs)
a pick (to get the snap ring)
wheel grease
new bearings (I forget the part number though)
new inner bearing seal (goes on the inside of the disc to hold the inner wheel bearing in)

The inner bearing nut gets torqued to 40lbs then backed off 90 degrees (a quarter turn)

The outer bearing nut gets torqued to 130lbs (I think)

Do a search of the board on "manual hubs". You can find the torque specs in one of the posts.

It's a pretty simple job. Clean all the parts with the brake cleaner. Make sure that the bearing races are not scored or gouged at all. If they are you're gonna have to get new ones or a new brake disc. Make sure to get the high temp grease too.

You should probably take the other side apart and clean and regrease those bearings. It's adviseable to do both at the same time.

I hope this helps.

doh! i forgot about the caliper slide pins.... but i did mention everything else ;) according to the instructions that came with my warn manual hubs, the outer nut should be torqued to 150 ft-lbs

Just want to say THANK YOU :D to those woh helped me out. We were able to get the parts we needed and install them. It eliminated a noise that I couldn't find and fixed the problem.
Thanks again for the quick and much needed help.
Blake
