I just have a few problems with my explorer that i wondered if anyone knew what could be the problem..

first, small thing, when i push my brake pedal in, when i let my foot off it, it makes two decent sounding clicks. Im not sure why it does that, and i cant figure out how to stop it. Verrrrry annoying.

second, anyone have any problems with thier starters? My engine will start part-way, putter around, then eventually just die. Its almost as it doesnt dis-engage and start completely. Or i've thought of a vaccum problem or something.. It happens most often when i start it once, turn it off for a short amount of time, then start it again. Yet if i wait like 5-7 minutes or so, usually it works again. I've thought of just getting a new starter and trying that out. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

The click click that you hear is the brake lights turning off, it also does it when you first press the brake pedal. I can hear mine slightly. If you hear yours loudly then make sure that your cover on your jake storage department is on. and Welcome to the Site!!!

i give up, whats a jake storage department?

Im sure thats a typo....I beleive he ment to say jack as in spare tire jack

I would suggest getting a hammer and crawl under the truck and give the starter a few taps (not too hard) and see if it does any better.

If not, it would either be the starter or the solenoid but let some other dudes that are more qualified than me fill you in on that part. I don't think the vacuum system messes with the starter.
