I don't post much, but when I do, I make sure I have exhausted my search prowess. I'm going to install the courtesy lamps in the doors from a '95 into my '99 Sport. I have acquired the light assemblies and the 194 bulb pigtails need for the install. My problem is figuring out the wiring for them. Since there is no current wiring for a light to come on with the door open I need to figured out what to wire into. Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated. Last resort would be to run wires through the door loom and tie into the dome lights. What says you?

Do you not have puddle lamps in the mirrors?
That would be the ideal tap in location.

Other than that, the light switch itself, if I remember correctly.. the blue or blue/black wire is dome light trigger, but don't quote me on that. :)

Negative, no puddle lights. I'll go in with a meter and determine the wire needed to tap into.

Thanks Dom.

No Problem. I'm 98% sure it's a blue wire behind the light switch. That's where I tapped in for my additional lamps when adding an overhead console, and it's also the alarm door trigger for these trucks.

Job completed. I ended up having to run the wiring myself. Tapped into the dimmer switch at the black w/blue stripe wire (Thanks Dom). The most difficult part is dealing the the wire loom on the driver's door. Running a wire through that junction can be challenging. I'll update this post with pics of the process soon.
