OK . . .I am the original owner of this 95 Ford Explorer XLT. From time to time in the past, the car will just not start. NADA, it was caused by the anti theft alarm locking up the system. I usually got it started after turning it on and off a couple of times. Sometimes longer. Well its been two days now, and it wont start. I had the starter tested its not that. Everything else s brand new and tested out fine. Does anyone know how to disable the alarm or bipass it or something to get it started?? I'm stuck!! Literally!! I need suggestions!!!
Thanks so much in advance!:)

There is a start solenoid and relays involved. The best thing right now is to turn your switch to the ON position and take a jumper cable and jumper the red terminal from your battery to positive side of your starter (just enough to start it, don't leave it connected) so that you can get home.

Then in the comfort of your own home/property/trailer park or whatever. :D (sorry bout that, my sarcasm gets the best of me every now and then)

You can begin to diagnose which one of your electrical components have gone wrong. I believe for the security system to be causing this, the security/anti-theft light would have to be flashing. This (if I'm not mistaken) should tell you that it's not starting due to the anti-theft features.

If the above is not true, I would check for electrical problems. Solenoids and relays, the actual key switch, etc. Could be many reasons.

Thanks so Much!! I just put this on the road for my 16 year old son, its been in the garage for 5 years. Love the sarcasm. . . btw. . . no trailers lol. . . For the record, I live in a private golf community :)

Can you clarify things a bit.... when you say "NADA", you mean that the starter makes NO noises, doesn't try to turn and there is no relay "clicks" coming from anywhere in the vehicle OR do you mean that your engine turns but doesn't "fire"/start????? This is important to be clear on.

Further, your "in the past ... was caused by the anti-theft locking up the system"... how was that determined and how was that addressed?

IF your starter doesn't even try to turn (and you don't hear any clicking of relays), I don't believe that it is an anti-theft system issue unless you have an after-market system. Having said that, what is your anti-theft light "telling" you???
