Odometer/trip meter inop...speedometer fine. Followed guidance in thread "...ndiglo" to disassemble (down to actually replacing the gauges), went slow and easy and it went fine, although electrical connections, gear shift indicator box and odometer motor mounting were stiff and didn't want to disconnect (been in there almost 20 years)...worked them gently and they finally came out. Had broken black plastic gear on odometer motor shaft, just as advertised.

Got new gear (white plastic) from odometergear.com, they are great guys (especially Darren)!...advised on how to get it apart and put it back together, and said call if I had any problems (didn't have to...with the above thread and their information, went just as planned).

Haven't done anything like this before so was really slow (as well as initially intimidated about digging around in there)...still took less than four hours beginning to end, even stopping a lot/checking the game scores/etc. Works like a champ now...don't feel shy about giving it a try...especially if you get your replacement part from the odometergear guys...they were really helpful and made me feel a lot more confident about rooting around in there.
