Let me start by saying. This will probably the 3rd time I have a problem with my explorer and I believe it is related to the transmission. I originally got the car on december 2009 and It didn't develop any problems until December of 2010, I kept driving the car with the weird noise. Then. one day, the car crank but as I was giving it gas my RPM jump and the car wouldn't move. I remove the transmission and the flex plate was made into two pieces. The first and second time, I had problems with the Flex Plate, due to the faulty design. I bought a replacement for it on both times. However, the second time I also bought a new spacer too. However, my torque converter had been pretty bad scratch on it. That was around on July of 2012. Around January of 2013, I went to best buy and like i normally park backwards. I try to do just that. Without thinking i press on the break. I didn't fully stop it, and it was kind of rolling downhill. I put the car in reverse when all the sudden, as I'm giving gas it will not move backwards. It will do it. If i give it a little but not half of the pedal down. Well, I tried to stop abusing my reserve. However, today I was just doing my errands. I went to the store and then to the bank. Everything seem fine until i get out of the bank parking lot. Which was kind of uphill. I didn't parked it on reverse but just normal. The car started fine. but them i got to the light and started to heard the noise. The rattle noise i had heard before when my flex plate broke. Since, it was rush hour. I couldn't push the car. The noise will go away above 1k rpm but i couldn't push the car pass 40 mph because it will not go or keep pushing but also it will shake really bad. I'm assuming my problem could apply to the following, I will need to replace the flex plate, the torque converter and the transmission. If anyone have any input as what it will be exactly or had experience something similar. It will help me. Also, what is the best Flex Plate to get to replace it and Torque Converter. Places to get them.
