Let me start out by saying that I deliver mail out of this 96 explorer. There is a lot of stop and go. The explorer runs fine until the temperature gets above 90° outside and then it dies and will not crank or even idle. If the vehicle sits for about 10 minutes then it will crank and run fine for about 30 more minutes of stop and go delivery. Then the same situation happens again. By the time I get someone to bring me another vehicle to finish the rest of my day at work and the vehicle has rested for the at least 10 minutes the vehicle can be driven home down the road at 60mph with no issues what so ever. I just got the explorer back out of the shop yesterday from having a used motor put in. Still having the same cutting off issue. That was not the reasoning for another motor. It only does this while I am at work. Which is really the only time I drive the vehicle. It's hard for me to take it to a mechanic to look at when it's running like a champ. It's only does it while I'm at work. I've got way too much money tied up in this explorer with the Jasper transmission and the used motor.

In the absence of a MIL or any codes, I'd say the problem is a bad fuel pump. The brushes wear out in the pumps as the miles pile up.
