I have a 4 door 1996 ford explorer xlt 2wd automatic v6
And here recently I've noticed that everytime I have drive it, I have to put about 1/2 gallon of fluid in the radiator. Sometimes when I first start it, it has a rough idle, but smooths out if I give it some gas. Also, am noticing whitish smoke from the exhaust, nothing extreme, but its never done that before.
Oil looks clean..
Doesn't overheat
As for the coolant leak, I cannot find anywhere that it is leaking from.

Ideas?

You've already found the leak. Most likely a head gasket. As long as you haven't overheated the engine yet its an easy fix (relatively speaking). Being a '96, maybe its time to pull the heads and take a peak, eh? If you're losing 1/2 a gallon a day, it won't be long before you cook it.

Be thankful the coolant isn't getting into the oil.
