Got an almost dumb question for you guys. Is it OK for me to remove the drivers side half-shaft for about a week or two and drive without it? Is it possible/dangerous and what are the detriments? Presently my truck is out of comission because the drivers half-shaft is toast, and I am strapped for cash right now because I can't get to work as this was my only method of transpo.
I know it sounds stupid but I just wanted to know.

TIA

You will fry the torsion unit in the transfer case by removing the front driveshaft and driving it. It will be immediately apparent as it will feel like the transmission is slipping.

Thanx for the quick response sparky. I do not need another repair bill.

Indeed.... not to mention you can't run the front wheels without the outer CV joint installed through the hub. Without the outer joint to hold the bearing together, it'll spontaneously separate at the least opportune time.
