hi,
i just got back from a trip towing my jetski's, and going through pretty bumpy terrain...
I now hear a noise going straight or turning left, but the sound dissapears when i turn right... This same noise still happens when I am in neutral.
any ideas?

I would say front hub but I'm having the same exact problem and after replacing the right side hub it didn't fix a freaking thing :( Next up I might try a new CV

i fixed it, it was the wheel bearing...
the original wheel bearing visually looked okay, except for the fluid leaking around it, after pulling it...... but i changed it anyways, and its fixed

by the way, i heard the noise on the drivers side wheel bearing... so I changed that one....

so you replaced the passanger side one where the noise was coming from and that didn't fix it. But replaced the other side and that did fix it?

hi,
i listened for a long time to make sure what side was the problem....I guessed right the first time, and replaced the one making the noise.... I will change the passenger side when I get paid...i don't want to be in the middle of no where and have my wheel fall off.. by the way , mine is 4wd aka AWD ... people said do the shake the wheel back and forth test, there was no noticeable play (i guesss i caught the problem early)... for our generation explorer, they changed the bearings, they are one piece, the lugs are included with this piece.. the part cost me $206. just for one... they say you need a wheel puller , the puller i rented had a stripped bolt, so i hammered my driveshaft out, without damaging a thing! took 1.5 hours, was twittling my thumbs alot trying to find all my tools.

It only took me 30 minutes to change mine and I didn't need any special tools.

what would you need the wheel puller for?

A wheel, or hub puller, will save the driveshaft damage from hammering... but then again, i hammered mine pretty hard, and it was unharmed.. on the other hand.... some of those honda CV joints aren't as strong, and start getting all mashed up when u hammer it...

I didn't have to hammer anything. I just simply pulled the wheel off, brake caliper, caliper bracket then the hub. and it slid right off the CV joint.

One more question... Do I have to change the wheel hub nut / washer ?
