Hey everyone..New user here..but very familiar with the site...Great job Rick...Anyways....I have a '97 Explorer with the legendary V8 5.0...it has AWD unfort. and not the desired 4x4 with high and low gears, but i got it for a steal ... Is it possible to lift this beast, after researching for what seems like forever I haven't been able to find a lift kit for the '97, I love it and don't want to get rid of it but am tempted to if I can't find a way to get it in the air....what are my options? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P. -Thank you (AIM: SoccerBum31)

Superlift makes a 4" lift for you if you don't mind decreased ground clearance. It runs about $1600 plus a new front driveshaft.

RCD is coming out with a 5" coilover kit to the tune of $2000 + that does away with the torsion bars altogether (i.e. better ground clearance). However it still retains the weak stock cv joints and hub assemblies. But you gain quite a bit in ride quality.

If you're looking to go budget, a $100 3" body lift+ a $50 TT and shackle lift + a sawzaw will give you enough lift to barely clear 35's. You can also add perry's fenders for $300 for increased tire clearance.

If you're looking to wheel the living heck out of it, consider a Solid axle swap. But be sure to research it as there are about a million different routes to go with this one.

Good Luck.
