98+ cd players in 97- explorers

i just got a 97 explorer sport, with 60k original miles

yea, i love it

but it only came with a cassette player

i was wondering if i could buy a 98+ explorer cd player off ebay and install it into my truck without any modifications (plug and play)

i also would like the rear controsl to work

Nope. you need one 95-97.

Actually, if you wanted to go through the trouble of wiring up an adapter harness you could probably get them to work, just as long as no factory amps are involved. The physical sizes should be the same.

Well, yes. But the install would be exactly like an aftermarket unit. Amp bypass, splicing, etc.
