My 98 eb's rear defroster stopped working. I have checked all fuses and relays(including the relay behind radio) also my auto lock feature also stopped working about the same time, doors used to lock when shifting out of park. Now they don't.
Don't know if they are are both on same circuit?
Help please!! Thanks in advance

Check your fuses again. I had this happen (backup lights also didn't work) and it was a fuse. I can't recall which fuse it was, but it was one of the ones inside the cabin and was number twenty something (21-24?). Replaced the blown fuse and everything (rear defrost, backup lights, auto-lock) started working again. That was about 4 years ago and the fuse has never blew again.

Thank you so much for the tip about the back up lights, I checked and my backup lights were out as well and I didn't know it. The fuse is #27 and it was missing on my truck. I lent my truck to a co-worker to move some stuff a couple weeks ago, and now that I think about it the problem started when I got it back. I've been testing all these other things and the damn fuse was missing. I'm kind of pissed off. I don't know why he would've pull the fuse out! Last time I lend out my explorer. SMH

Glad I could help.

Actually, as I think about it, my fuse was also missing. It was that way when I bought the vehicle. Another forum member had a similar problem with his rear defroster circuit and had a blown fuse #27. Once I read his post I checked my 2000 Mountaineer and saw it had no fuse in slot #27. Then I checked my 2001 Explorer and saw it had a fuse in slot #27. After replacing the fuse everything worked. Reading the owner's manual did not indicate that the 3 things were on the same circuit. I was super pleased to fix 3 problems with a 60 cent fuse.

Tip: Never lend your vehicle (or tools) to anyone.
