Im looking at a 98 EB explorer. I had a question on the fan controls. This control panel has the dial for the fan speed control and only works on hi. Then when you change it to the other settings the fan shuts off. Does the whole climate control in dash unit need to be changed or is their a easier fix for this problem

If it has the Electronic Automatic Climate Control (EATC), then you likely need a blower speed controller. IIRC, it's around $70. If it's the manual controls, you simply need the $15 blower resistor pack. Neither one is difficult to install.

Speed controller in a 98 is near the blower motor itself. If I Remember Correctly, it's mounted outside the blower housing...
