Hello. My trans went on our 98 4.0 4x4 explorer.we found what was said to be a trans out of another 98. after comparing side by side we found that the donor has a sensor in the case above the linkage which I am now finding out is a speed sensor of some sOrt. It alsO had a mechanical speedo port in the transfer case. Taking our chances we completed the swap using the original transfer case. Everything went good but now it dosent shift up or down on it's Own. It does however function if it is shifted manually.
My question is, can this be made to work without major computer / PCM work? Or does this tranny have internals that are not comPatable with the truck. Any help much appreciated.
