Hi there. Great web site. This is my fist post. I have a '98 XLT that I bought less than two months ago and I absolutley love it, except for . . .

The rear wiper worked the last time I tried it about a months ago. I went to the car wash today and nothing :( . I checked the manual and it did not list a specific fuse execept at the main power box under the hood. I checked it and it looks fine.

Has anyone ran into the wiper suddenly dying? Any suggestions/fixes? I am totally open to suggestions.

Thanks

There are a few things it could be:

The glass isn't fully closed.

The fuse is blown.

The wiper arm is "stuck" turn on the power and help it with your hand.

The gears inside are stripped.....you would hear the motor running if that is the case....

I've had this problem with a '98 XLT, and also my current '00 XLS. Somtimes it works, and the times I need it, it doesn't. When I'm ready to take it into the dealer (still under warranty), of course it works. I can usually get it working by turning the switch on, and then going to "help" it along -- or beating the hell out of it....
