Hello,

I just dropped in an engine from a 98 SOHC in my 97 SOHC and it wont start unless we jump the starter solenoid by the firewall. A friend told me it has to do with the pats system. Is there ant way to disable it?? or any other tricks i can do to get her started?? Or do i have to buy a new key and have it programmed??

Are you using the 97 computer still?

If so you dont have PATS and it cant effect you.

The shop i got the engine from said the ecm from a 98 wont work with my 97. My 1st thought was that i needed the ecm from the 98.

Your 97 computer will be fine, you dont need the 98 comp.

The computer shouldnt be your problem, if it worked before the swap.

i just talked to my tech, he didnt use my harness. I'm pretty sure thats the reason for no start.

Just seen this thread and that exactly what i was goin to say.

I used a 97 engine in a 98 and i noticed the engine loom is different in respect to the pin positions at the firewall.
