98+ tailgate on a 95

hey guys hopefully someone can give me knowledge i want to know if a 98 tailgate and tail lights will just bolt on to my 95 xlt because the 95 tailgate makes it look old but the 98+ is sleek and round and gives it a better look

From what I have heard the 98+ hatches are more curved than the pre-98 ones. Section knows alot about why it does and does not fit. He would be the one to ask.

It would fit with some modifications (I'm guessing). It depends how badly you want it to fit. A direct bolt on - it's not.

From memory, Section never actually swapped the gates, only the lights. And it looked like the gates would swap easily. The only problem he foresaw was that the wiring harnesses were different. The difference in the curves was on the outside of the gate, not where it would mount.

To sum it up..........I don't think anyone here exactly knows!! I don't believe it has ever been tried here.

Section did actually try it, but it just didn't look right and there are wiring issues to deal with.
