I bought the truck 6000 km ago, at that time the dealer (used car dealer) changed the oil and "topped up" all the fluids.
I changed the motor oil yesterday (5W30 conventional with Fram filter) but forgot to check the trans fluid. I checked it today (transmission was slightly warm having been driven 2 hours ago) running in park. The fluid is about 3/4" ABOVE the full mark. My understanding is the fluid expands as it gets warm so it will be WAY OVER FULL once it gets hot!
Or is that wrong?
What should I do?
Would that over fill have damaged anything?

Thanks
btw is a 4wd, 4.0 sohc with 222,000 km on it.

everything expands when it gets hot but...solids will expand less then a liqud and a ligud less then gas....The amount of expansion shouldn't be huge but if you are really worried about this, I would suggest that you remove the fill plug NOT the drain plug and let the fliud flow out of the fill plug and when it slows down put the plug back in

I took it for a drive and got the transmission nice and hot, I checked again and noted the level was about 1 1/2" above the hash marks so I used my air powered vacuum fluid extractor to remove 3/4 liter to get to the top of the hash marks. (I used a flexible tube that fits down the dipstick tube).
So it was 3/4 of a liter too full. I know that in an engine that can be really bad since it can cause foaming and blow out seals but what about the transmission?

I wouldn’t worry about it. I ran mine a litre overfilled for 2 years with no problems. The factory is only going to give you the minimum fluid needed. They can't afford to over fill every tranny. Have you seen the inside of these things? no crank rotating...In fact, more fluid is better. You can buy a pan to increase the capacity if you are really into it...
