Hi, Thank you for taking the time to read this thread.
I have a 99 Mountaineer 5.0L w/ 220,000+ miles on the clock.
When it is cold I can hear this loud exhaust noise like a front pipe with a hole in it. When it warms up it is no longer there, the exhaust is normal and quiet.
It seems to be getting worse. Today I could hear it rumbling at a set of lights (this time it was warm). I revved it a little and it did not sound like a typical exhaust pipe leak. It sounded like something flapping around inside the exhaust manifold on the drivers side letting the loud noise to take place, then the exhaust would return to normal (quiet) no flapping sound just plain normal.
Could anyone give me a clue what it might be?
Any information will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Rick
