when I was leaving work today, the motor started and stalled instantly ?,it's not the superchip or the jacobs igtnition{I tried it without each one without the other.
also...the motor sounds odd, muffled ?,(I also checked the air filter)the half tank of mobil that I have in there is from a complete fill up .
could this be some kind of manifold gasket or such ?
hope someone can give me some places to check
thanks,

Idle air control !

ford says it the Idle air control, and that I also need the injection system flushed, and even though I'm at 38'000 miles, they may do it under warranty !!!
I'll tip the guy " big time" that makes that call .

someone from rec.autos.makers.ford.explorer said that's what it was on his truck.

ford wants over $300. if it's not under warranty.

I'll let you guy's know how I make out

Bill,

If they don't do the repairs under warranty, a can of AMSOIL Power Foam and a bottle of Performance Improver (PI) will take care of the upper air intake and fuel systems. Use a little PI with every tank to keep everything clean.

A local Ford dealership told a friend of mine he needed to have the upper air intake system cleaned on his Ford Taurus SHO when it was doing the same thing you described. They offered to do it for about $120. He got a can of Power Foam and ran it through. This took care of his problem. When he went back to show them what he had used, the service manager showed him a Motorcraft product in a similar size can. It was the same thing as the Power Foam and they charge $25 for it. A can of Power Foam is about $5.

Gary :, how you doing !
I use the PI often, I'm not sure what to do exactly with the foam.
does this clean the fuel injecters,I thought the PI would do that.
I will be doing another oil analysis in 2'000 miles, that will be 20'000 on the same oil,I just recently changed both filters and toped off.
I'll let you know when I send it in.
thanks,

The Power Foam is sprayed into the throttle body while the engine is running. It gets all the deposits in the upper air intake system that the PI can't. Basically, the Power Foam comes in from the top and the PI from the bottom making it a lethal combination.

I should receive a copy of your oil analysis report. Feel free to call or e-mail if you would like to discuss anything concerning it.
