So after finally getting the notorious roof seam leaks right, now I've had the rear headrest rattle due to one of them breaking. The truck also has the click problem when turning in parking lots. Now yesterday on our way back from el paso to houston my wife noticed that the interior door skin was peeling because the glue that holds it in gave out. Not only that but now theres a leak between the tranny and the engine, its not obvious where its coming from but its moist in those areas. So many issues and the truck barely has 10xxx miles on it. It really has me rethinking this purchase. The wife and I love the exploerer but we haven't had it for a year yet and we already have all these issues.

Even with a warranty it is still a hugh pain to take it in and get it analyzed and then bring it back for repair when they get the parts in. we had our 06 explorer in for so many things, I think that was half the miles.

Yea it really is, took us two hours to convince the dealership to give us a loaner. The dealer was telling us that they didn't ofree free loaners even though they have provided a loaner twice.

The clicking is most likely a front axle. I you have someone stand out side the car and you can tell wheat side its coming from then you know which side is bad.
The leak in between the engine and the transmission is most likely a rear main seal if you cannot see where its coming from it also could be possibly valve covers leaking but its hard to tell with out looking.

The dealer is under no obligation to provide a loaner as per Ford's warranty guide. When they do, it is at their, cost. Some do it as a good will jester to keep the customer happy. Glad it worked out for you.

When i lease my cars i sign a loaner agreement as a package. And i have always gotten a loaner from the dealer and when dealer doesn't have one of its own they get one from a rental agreement they have with a car rental agency, so i what i say is this is something you work out at the beginning of the lease or finance.

My leak came from the vacuum pump connected to the cam shaft.

Took me awhile to realize it was leaking because I have a 2000 explorer that leaks all kinds of fluids. One day I realized there was oil in the driveway where I never park the old explorer. Popped the hood and sure enough, there was oil all over the transmission.

Ultimately, you want the dealer to put some dye in the oil and check for leaks everywhere. Would hate to see one leak get fixed when there was really two.

Not if you buy an ESP which is exactly what I do with all my vehicles. Make an appt, drop it off, get into a $60 rental per day for free, pick it up when the repairs are done.

Couldn't be any easier for repair work except to not have to have repair work done. But I've never had a vehicle that didn't need warranty work.

Correct me if I'm wrong but dye in the oil???? What?
I am a mechanic at a garage and the only thing you want to put dye in is the a/c never anything else.
To find other leaks you look every oil change or at least that's what I do and you look for the upper and forward most spot. Not dye

The truck also has the click problem when turning in parking lots.

I had a clicking problem when turning left and going over speed bumps coming from the right front side and it ended up being the upper strut mount bearing on the passenger side. Once replaced the clicking noise was gone.

I have a clicking when back up and turning right sometimes...my axles were taken off and checked...they were good...so now they have to look at other things...thinking strut assembly or something to that nature. I don't have time to bring it in for another 2 weeks or so.
