I'm thinking to buy an R12 A/C compressor for my standar Explorer 91 XL, but I'm not sure what model or part number it is.
I have searched for it but I don't if it is exactly what I need.

Some can help me to find the right replacement part for my EXP ???

I just have found something like this at www.ford-autoparts.com:

Compressor w/ Clutch Assy New From 7/91, Comp & Clutch Assy are Interchangeable, Before 7/91 = 16 Spline Compressor Shaft. From 7/91 = 21 Spline Compressor Shaft; FS10

Is this what I need ??

Well whats your problem? Is the A/C compressor dead?

try fordpartsnetwork.com They have everything you need at a pretty desent price!

For the A/C compressor and Clutch Assy, your looking at about $2000.

For your sake, I hope you really dont need it? Your Explorer is most likely not even worth that much...

An A/C compressor with clutch is only a few hundred. If you want to take it to a shop and have them change that, flush the system and fill it with r-12, then the price gets higher... That isn't from ford.. Checker/Kragen and Autozone carry it also... They are remanufactured but they are only a few hundred..

You need 2 lbs of r-12.. and last I checked, it was over $50 a pound here in Tucson, Arizona...

I'm going to replace our compressor and convert to r-134 this spring.. Total parts cost plus freon is under $1k .... and a little more if I don't use a remanufactured compressor (I may not). This includes new dryer, oriface tube, hoses, and a few other parts....

Thanks ! ... my problem is a dead A/C compressor.
I have find it at www.fordpartsnetwork.com , but how I mentioned, I'm not sure if the specifications of those in the website are the corrects to replace what is installed right now.

I dont know what is FX10, FXS15 and 7/21 , What is he right specs for my Exp??

Hmm,
$260.06 for a reman Compressor/Clutch. Not bad!! I think I MAY be looking at replacing mine this spring also. Havent had it fully checked yet, may just be a leak somewhere. Its still good to know that worst case ill be spending about $400 total for parts.

Duh, i typed the wrong amount in up there^^^.

Sorry....:(

This is what fordpartsnetwork people answered me about my part request :

YC-189 Genuine Ford AC compressor $219.99

How I mentioned... I'm not still sure if it is the right part... but, what can I do .... I guess the people of fordpartsnetwork know what are they doing .... (I hope so, jeje)

Thanks to everyone for your answers !!
