My A/C and heat are only blowing out of the defrost area on my dash . I don’t hear any weird noises or anything , blower motor is working fine sounds like it always has . Does anyone know what this could and or probably is ? 2008 explorer V6 XLT - 206k miles on it currently . Ive heard chatter about blend door stuff for these years but always have heard people mentioning weird clicking noises etc .

Yes it's the center blend door arm that has come away from the plastic. If you remove your glove box, shine light about center-high behind vents & operate vent selections, you will see the offending arm & piece it's supposed to be attached to in question.

I tried to tackle last year with incorrect tools, can't get to it. Bought a 1/4 inch base long drill bits for my impact to put extensions on it. Can drill a small hole in plastic arm & basically put a 1/2 paperclip to hold together.

Go on YouTube & search "2006 2007 2008 explorer AC through defroster vents" and a few videos will pop, a combination of 2-3 will get you to where you need to be to do it. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much I’m going to look into all that

This is what I did on my 07. Drilled a hole in the tab and used a tie wrap. All done through the hole created by removing the glove box. Progressively tighten the tie wrap so that it's got some slack in it and doesn't overextend. I have a movie of it working but don't see how to post it.

Thanks mine was broken much more than that so I couldn’t drill a hole large enough without breaking the remaining plastic so I drilled a tiny hole and used 16 gauge tie wire and fed it through and then twisted the ends together tight with a pair of needle nose pliers . It’s working great now
