Hello everyone,

The insulation on the A/C hoses of my 92 4DR XLT has pretty much disintagrated off. The last little piece flaked off the other day while I was removing the upper intake.

Does anyone know temperature / thermal rating of this insulation so I can find a suitable replacement??

My A/C system works OK, but the air isnt very cold.........but on hot days it is cold enough to make the inside of the truck comfortable. I am guessing (and hoping) it isnt getting super cold because of the lack of insulation.

Since the A/C has been like this for a few years, (first piece of insulation fell off about 3 years ago) I am hoping it isnt a leak (since a leak would cause the system to perform worse and worse over time, i guess)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

What is the vent discharge temperature? The ambient temperature?

Hello aldive

my intention is to replace the insulation and if that doesnt help the cooling capability of my A/C system, then I will take some high-side and low-side pressure measurements and go from there.

Right now, all I know is that the stock A/C system has insulation on the hoses, and my truck doesnt because the insulation disintagrated and fell off.

I am hoping that replacing the insulation will be a simple remedy (which usually is never the case :-) )

Thanks

Rgds,
