Ok got a few questions.

I dont have much money to spend ( vehical purchase)
and I am basiclaly looking for a vehical i can work on
for the meantime and adventually build-up for 4wheeling

I was originally looking for an BroncoII But for the price
and the Better bigger motor and stronger axles you get
with the explorer it seems the better way to go seeing
it will adventully be locked and geared at both ends
with most likley 35" tires.

Ok Ive seen a few explorers looking from 1991-1993

and most of them that fit my purchase price eaither
have shot bodys or shot interiors or BOTH all of them
that fit my budget are High milage some are clean
and others are just good for parts.

Ok my biggest concern is finding one with a good solid
body floor and what not fenders dont bother me much because they are replaceable but as long as the floor and cab corners are solid id take a look at buying it

how many of you take Milage into account when buying an used vehical?

the one i have my eye on right now is and

1991 explorer 4x4
blue on Gray ( inside is nice and clean)

body has a few ruff edges transmission shifts well
and every power option works properly the truck
has 256 x.. Miles on it

and was wondering what do you guys usually inspect
before buying and used vehical with such high milage?

anything else i should know please let me know thanks

dave

What's a vehical?

Sorry man, just kidding...cant help you on this because Ive never purchased a vehicle.

Well, first of all, thats a LOT of miles. Has the tranny or engine been replaced? On a 1st gen with that many miles it wouldnt be uncommon for the tranny to have been replaced at least once. Second, if you are planning on building it up, I assume you dont really care what kinda condition the suspension and 4x4 system is in since you will just be replacing it all anyway. I would look mostly at the engine condition. Does it look like its been taken care of? Does it sound right? Does it make enough power? Any records of repairs?

If the engine or tranny has been replaced or rebuilt then it will change things around a little but I guess it really comes down to what you feel comfortable with fixing or working with.

Good luck...
