I'm posting about this here, as it seems any other posts I can find are fairly old, or, with bad links (due to posting age):
I wanted to post that Redline Tuning makes an easy-to-install (and reliable) kit, for virtually every model year of Explorer out there, that gets rid of that stupid hood "prop rod" and converts your SUV to gas-charged hood struts... the way it should have come from the factory! I've used 3 sets of these things, without trouble or failure... first, on my 2011 Escape; then on my 2015 Edge, and now, on my 2018 Explorer. You can simply install them and forget them!
