I've noticed in looking at the threads dealing with u- joint replacement that everyone suggests the old standby method of removing them with two sockets and a hammer. While this works , as a chrysler tech I've personaly seen yokes tweaked or cracked this way.a much easier (and better for the shaft ) method is to use a ball joint press with no adapters . If you don't have one most large parts stores(such as autozone) have loaners ,as the're a common tool .

As a trail fix, anything will work. I tried the hammer method in my garage on my 130,000 miles-old driveshaft... All it did was chip the concrete floor. An arbor press at work made it quick and simple. :)

A u joint press works too. It's just a c w/ a bolt through it and presses the joint through each end.
