a way to run vin info on vehicle?

Does the local Ford dealership have a way to run VIN info? Im going to be purchasing a used 97 "X" next week and wanted to find out what it came with?

On our Jeep I could take the VIN to the parts dept. and they would print out a " build sheet " that showed what the vehicle originally came with? my dealership was no help.

So what are you buying? Is it in the trader or at a dealer? Just curious. I got mine this past Saturday! I'm stoked!! It's a 92' 4wd 4door lifted up on 33's. Keep your eyes peeled around town for a big maroon 4 door. I drive through Poway all the time on the way up to Ramona.

that car has a history of commericial use and lease use, but other wise it checked out fine. 97 x!

Ive already got a car fax on it. I just wanted to know the build date, what the codes are for the package it has etc. ALso I called Fords 800 # and they said there were 9 recalls on the Explorer and only 4 have been performed, but they wouldnt tell me anymore?
