Today several times on downhill grades, when applying the gas after a coasting period, it slipped like it was in neutral. It didn't want to grab at all. As the downhill leveled out and there was more "load" on the tranny it did grab. I'm not sure if this is OD or the lockup issue.
Background - For a year or so, when I delecerate to about 20mph and the re-accelerate the trans seems to "slip" briefly, engine rpms increase unexpectedly, it downshifts in the process and grabs again. Other than that she's in great shape and always very well maintained since new.
Any advice? Is there something that controls this shift that could be addressed? Is it time for a rebuild? Thanks in advance!
I'm a good "backyard" mechanic, not afraid of many mechanical things, but probably don't have the tools for a full AT rebuild.
