Check suspension bushings, worn ball joints, tie rod ends. Probably has nothing to do with the ABS light. Find a shop with an ABS scan tool and get them to scan it.

This is possible wheel bearing going out. The abs sensor is just a magnetic tip and since our explorers have a sealed bearing the abs sensor picks up the pieces of metal and trip the light to go off.

To do a check jack the front end up and check both wheels. Spin them and if its rough and not smooth thats a sign of a bad hub. Also grab the tire at 12 and 6 and move back n forth. Alot of play ie not tight and hard to move is a sign of a bad hub.

Its a simple repair and easy to do in your drive way. Theres a sticky on this but there are some tricks to doing it easier. I put my money on a bad bearing. If so change it asap you dont want it to fail while traveling 70mph

Back and forth i ment wiggle towards you and away from you.

Yep, sounds like a bad hub/bearing. My 1998 Sport did the exact same thing, replaced the hub, and fixed it fine.
