Hi All,
Here is my experience with my AC suddenly blowing hot:
For the past few weeks upon shutdown I would hear a whine for a few seconds coming from the radiator area. On Monday 4/18 I began to hear a louder whine when I accelerated. Then shortly after that the AC went from cold to hot. It was 85 F in Albuquerque. I went to the gym for about 90 minutes. Came back out and the Explorer was now blowing cold. After driving a short distance AC went back to blowing hot. The dealer identified that one of the two radiator fans was not working up to capacity. When that happens the AC system will shut off. One of the radiator fans is always on when the engine is on. The second fan runs to support the AC demands. The second fan could not produce enough CFMs when the AC was on so it and the AC would shut off. Hence the hot air. I had my dual fan assembly replaced and now nice cold AC and no squeal upon shutdown or under acceleration.
